1961年以来、シエラレオネでは独裁政権が続いており、これに反対する動きが起きました。
隣のリベリアでも同じ動きがあり、自国の影響を大きくしたいリビアの支援を受け、内戦に発展しました。
リベリアでは反乱軍（リベリア国民愛国戦線/NPFL）が独裁政権を潰し（第1次リベリア内戦）、シエラレオネでも反乱軍（革命統一戦線/RUF）が暴れ回りました。
ダイヤモンド（この地域で多め）も絡んで紛争はヤバくなり、政府でもクーデターが続発してめちゃくちゃだったため、西アフリカ諸国経済共同体（ECOWAS）や国連（UN）が介入しました。
この頃近くのギニアビサウでも内戦（ギニアビサウ内戦。3枚目）が起きており、要するにこの地域がめちゃくちゃでした。
そんな中でダイヤモンドの密輸などの悪さのせいで課された制裁から、リベリアではNPFL政権への反乱が起きました（第2次リベリア内戦）。
国連（UN）はNPFLリベリアの弱体化のため、RUFを引き込み、シエラレオネ内戦を終了させました。
これがうまくいって、NPLFリベリアは孤立し、ついに壊滅しました。
この紛争は、独裁政権の悪行と、ダイヤをめぐる人間の欲望が誘発しましたが、リビアの介入（既に一部の国を暴虐に引きずり込んでました）からリベリア、シエラレオネが守られたことがポイントです。
現在この二国は、紛争の痛みがまだ残っている中で、将来に向かって歩んでいます。

In Sierra Leone, Dictatorship was continued since Independence on 1991, so Movement that oppose it was broken out.
There was same movements in Liberia neighboring country, & these were supported by Libya for they expand their influence, so it developed to Civil War.
In Liberia, Rebels (NPFL) destroyed Dictatorship (1st Liberian Civil War), & Rebels (RUF) were rampaged in Sierra Leone also.
Diamonds (Many in this Region) were involved & Conflict became worse, & Coups were occurred in Government, so ECOWAS & UN intervened to this.
In this time, Civil War (See 3rd) was broken out in Guinea-Bissau close to these nations, so frankly speaking, This Region was in Confusion.
In this situation, Rebel against NPFL Administration was broken out cause of Sanction by their badness like Smuggling of Diamonds (2nd Liberian Civil War).
UN pulled in RUF for Weakening of NPFL Liberia & ended Sierra Leone Civil War.
This was succeed so NPFL Liberia was isolated & be destroyed.
This Conflict was triggered by Badness of Dictatorship & Human Desire for Diamonds, but point is Sierra Leone & Liberia were protected from Intervention of Libya (Already drove some nations to Atrocities).
Now these two nations walking to Future even Painful of Conflict are still remaining.
