ポルトガルは1415年以降、アフリカなどに植民地を持っていましたが、第二次世界大戦後の独立運動ブームを見て、名前だけ海外州に変えていました。
しかし独立闘争が続発し、当時の政権（エスタド・ノヴォ）はこれを徹底弾圧します。
アフリカ大陸では、凄まじいボコし合いが行われました。
アジアでも、1961年にインドがゴアを解放し、1966年にはマカオも中国の影響下に入りました（一二・三事件）。
ポルトガルは第二次世界大戦を、公正な外交政策で巧みに生き残りましたが、この植民地弾圧でそれを全部パーにしたのです。
一方イギリスも、人種差別なしの植民地独立を認める感じになっていましたが、南ローデシアでは白人グループがこれを突っぱねて勝手に独立宣言しました（ローデシア）ため、独立闘争が起きました。
ポルトガルとローデシアは世界的な経済制裁を受け、ガタガタになりました。
そしてまず、1974年にポルトガルで政権（エスタド・ノヴォ）が倒れ（カーネーション革命）、新政府が植民地全ての独立を認めました。
ローデシアもアメリカの仲介で降伏し、勝利した独立派は、ジンバブエとして独立しました。
住民の声を聞く代わりに、人種差別による徹底弾圧を行った政権は、その行動にふさわしい最期を迎えました。

Portugal possessed Colonies in Africa & some others since 1415, but changed only name to "Overseas States" after watched Independent Movements after WWII.
But Independent Groups uprose, & Administration at this time (Estado Novo) suppressed it thoroughly.
Both Side quarreled in African Continent.
In Asia, India liberated Goa on 1961, & Macau was set under control of China on 1969 (12-3 Incident).
Portugal survived WWII by Fair Diplomatic Policy, but they have broken it by this Supression against Colonies.
On the other hand, they recognized Independence of Colonies without Racial Discrimination, but in Southern Rhodesia, White Group rejected it & declared Independence at their will (Rhodesia), so Independent Group uprose.
Portugal & Rhodesia were sanctioned by Global Economical Sanction & became rattled.
And first, Administration (Estado Novo) was fallen in Portugal on 1974 (Carnation Revolution), & New Administration recognized Independence of every Colonies.
Rhodesia surrendered by Mediation of US, & Independent Group that won independent as Zimbabwe.
Administration that suppressed People with Racial Discrimination instead of listen their voice was came to the end that suitable for their behaviors.
