親戚からも裏切られた会津藩のために全てを捧げた二本松藩と、その中心・丹羽富穀さん、軍事力と信念全てを平和づくりのために捧げた河井継之助さん（長岡藩）、皆が一致して最後まで戦った庄内藩。
他にも本多庸一、敬天愛人（神を敬い人を愛する）をモットーとし、庄内藩を赦した西郷隆盛（秋田戦争/第9回参照）、星恂太郎（箱館戦争/次回参照）。
彼らに共通するのは、人のために全てを捨てるという考えであり、それは聖書の基礎・神を敬い人を愛する（敬天愛人）に繋がります。
軍事力や経済、信念全ての価値は平和のために使うから存在すること、その発想を固定化する方法はこの世界を造り、動かしている神を信じることにあることがわかります。
